James Roberts (Shipbuilder)
« on: Tuesday 26 January 10 16:42 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

Is there anybody out there researching a James Roberts who's occupation was a shipbuilder on the
Clyde in the late 1800's.

I realise that the term shipbuilder could mean riviter or plater and so on, and that Roberts is a very common name.

He had a son John born <1897> but there is nothing I can find in the 1901 census about this event.
The birth year was obtained from John's marraige certificate in 26/01/1938, his age at the date of the marraige was 40 thereby <1897> is the closest I can get.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

John.

Thank's for the reply,

That's the problem, what I mentioned is all I know, with the name of the mother of John I just might have been able to progress a little further.

regards

John

Do you have John's 1938 marriage certificate?

Where was he married, if it's a Scottish Certificate, it will show the names of both his parents, along with the fathers occupation, and whether or not they were still living.

KELLY (Glasgow), DUNLOP (Ireland, Glasgow), PATERSON (Coatbridge), PATTERSON (Midlothian, Berwickshire), YOUNG (Eastwood), MUIR (Kilmarnock) CAMERON (Stirlingshire, Glasgow, Angus)

Yokerbrian,

Sadly he was married in Middlesex- England, and only his fathers name is on the certificate with occupation.
