I am looking for the birth of a William Brook/brooke/brooks/brookes in Wombwell Barnsley C1820. Inthe 1841 census he was aged 20yrs 1851 census 31yrs 1861 census 41yrs. Sorry if I have posted this before but have had a problem with my computer and lost a lot of previous information.  I think Williams parents were William and Sarah (Nee Utley)  but need William jnrs birth to confirm this before I can go any further. Me again another record states wife as Mary  Senior  and the Marriage date c 1839 Not her birthdate.

There is this Extracted Christening with parents WILLIAM/SARAH
William BROOKE, 18 June 1820, Darfield
Only child on the Batch. Others may have been christened elsewhere.
Submitted entries have his Parents as William Brook and Sarah UTLEY

Do you have his Marriage Cert to confirm his Fathers name and occp?
One of the childrens Birth Certs to confirm Marys maiden name?

The submitted entry has William and Mary Senior marrying 06 May 1839, Darfield.
There are other marriages in the same time frame to other Marys.
Childs birth cert and then Wiil/Marys marriage cert are REALLY necessary to make sure you have the correct line to follow.

Having said that there is this possible marriage reg from FreeBMD;

The Cert will confirm both Fathers names/occps

There is also a possible marriage to a Mary WOOD so be really careful.

Hi, Jaques and trish,  No I don,t have a birth certificate for William Jnr, but I sent for birth certificates for two of his children namely William 1849 and Albert 1851.  Both born rotherham.  Ther mother is named as Mary Straw.  I then sent for a marriage certificate for William and Mary (1845).  Williams father was listed as William Brooks (engineer).William jnrs occupation was a Miller and he died in 1862.  I have a christening for Wm junr 18th June 1820 (igi) Darfield  (Barnsley) with parents William brooke and Sarah Uttley and from this started looking for them. 1841 census Wm Snr is listed as engine tenter, 1851 engineer and 1861 miller.  I,m almost sure I have William jnrs parents correctly but without a birth certificate for him I wasn,t 100% sure and this was why I was trying to find someone who may have access to the records.  Another plus is that during 1851/1861 census,s both Williams lived at Westgate, Rotherham.  But the biggest thing that is throwing me is I have a christening record (igi) for William Brook  16th November 1796 Greasbrough, Rotherham and also a birth (igi) for William Brook 1795 Darfield, giving his marriage to Sarah Utley.  But in the 1851/1861 census,s he gives his birth as Greasbrough/Ginhouse Greasbrough.   Hope this all makes sense, just wondered what you thought, regards Pat
