Robert BOND 1790-1878
« on: Tuesday 26 January 10 10:28 GMT (UK) »
Hi All

Follow up to post on huntingdonshire request

Robert Bond born Yaxley in Suffolk 1790 could have died in Hartismere Eye
But have found a gravestone in Yaxley Huntingdonshire with details of a Robert bond
and he was at the battle of waterloo my research shows a Robert bond private regiment 18th hussars (captain Richard Ellis troop) and Robert bond 1st battalion (or kings own) regiment captain Fletcher's company no3)
I am a member of the royal British legion in yaxley hunts and if Robert bond is buried in yaxley hunts the
legion would like to lay a wreath on headstone but was he buried in yaxley hunts or yaxley Suffolk
any help I would be grateful

Hello,

I have a Robert Bond (great, great grandfather) who was known as 'Waterloo Bond' due to his involvement in the battle where he sustained a leg injury but then lived to the ripe old age of 88! He died in 1876 on Christmas day (his birthday) He was buried with Military honours in St Mary's Churchyard in Yaxley Suffolk -  There is a report of the funeral in the Ipswich Journal dated 4th January 1879.

Don't know if this will help?

Chars.
