Co Cork Marriage/Soldiers/Parish Registers

Hi,

I have been searching a baptism record in Lancashire UK. 

The Curate has given lots of details besides the baptism,

Parents names if the wife married before, what her previous married name was and also her maiden name. 

What is does give is the parents marriage date, and quite a lot are in Co Cork. Most are 1830's, and 1840's.   The Fathers being Soldiers.

I've started to make a note of all this information.   A couple of places named are: St Nichola's? St Paul's and St Luke's, there are also some in Belfast and Dublin. 


What I'm asking is- are there registers for these churches? as I will stop taking notes as there is lots and lots of information to write.   And would any Family History Society in Cork be interested in the information if they haven't got it?

The three parishes you mention St Nicholas, St Paul’s and St Luke’s were each Church of Ireland (Anglican) parishes in Cork City. Unfortunately many C of I parish records were destroyed in a fire in the Four Courts, Dublin in 1922. The Four Courts building also housed the Irish national archives. Many, though not all, C of I records were deposited there in the 1870s and as a result were completely lost. For this reason you should continue to write down any details you find, as they may be the only records of these marriages that have survived.
Any records you found would be of interest to local historians and genealogists. You might try the Cork Genealogy Society for advice. Their website is at http://corkgenealogicalsociety.com/index.htm

Thank you for your reply, will contact by email from the link you gave to let them know what I have to give them if they want them.

You never know maybe the soldiers went back home to Cork and family descendants are still there in Cork, would be nice to know that they have the marriage information due to an informative Curate!!  He even gave fathers names for illegitimate children (for most)
