Can't find a birth
« on: Sunday 24 January 10 16:21 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to trace a birth for a John McLaren (or could be Clarney) born Carlisle, Cumberland in 1831 or 32.

I have his marriage certifcate under the name of McLaren and so is his father, but he died under the name of Clarney and switched between the 2 on the census's.

I would appreciate any help with this   :)

Hi Charz,  When he gets married does it give an address for him and/or his father?  Might help find the church he was christened in, (assuming he was christened).  I will be in the Carlisle archives at some point, I will have a look for you.

Hi Morskaj,

He got married in St Margarets Durham, it's only on all the census that it says he was born in carlisle Cumberland, but have no idea where?  Can't even find him in 1841  :(

Hi,

There is a John Mclarry b 1833 on the 1841 census b St Bees Cumberland.

You don't give a fathers name so not 100% if this is your man. This ones father is Peter and Mother Mary.

Hope it helps

Dave
