some more details on Betts in Dublin, starting with Thom's 1850
two Bett's listed in the index -
Mr. George Charles Betts, Sandymount Green
W.H. Betts, teacher, Sandymount Green
the Sandymount-green section of the street listing shows :
Mr. George Charles Betts
William Betts , literary teacher
there is a unnamed School house listed in the Village described
as 'Female free school supported by subscription'
the same directory shows a 'St. Peters National School' between
numbers 13 & 15 Whitefriars Street, but no further details are given.
same details above are listed in 1852 Ed., except that the School is listed as no 14
there's no sign of either George or William on Sandymount green in 1877, but there is a similar Betts listings (same two first & middle name) in the 'List of Nobilty, Gentry, Traders etc' - could George have changed occupation ?
George Charles Betts and Co., direct wine importers, tea merchants, coffee roasters, and general dealers - 43 Grafton St, and 30 Henry St
also a personal listing for him :
George Charles Betts, merchant, 30 Henry St, res : Eastbourne, Terenure
I dont see a listing for him, or his house in the Terenure (Roundtown) section.
in 1880 the Henry St address is listed as both the business and, Mrs./Charles/William Betts (presumably living 'over the shop')
