How Big An Area???
« on: Thursday 21 January 10 03:26 GMT (UK) »
Hi All

I am trying to track my Mum's father who died in Cheshire.

William Robert C Johnston, DOB 7 Aug 1920, Death Reg Month/Year 1975, Reg District Chester & Ellesmore Port, Inferred County Cheshire.

We know that he moved from Gloucester & went to the above area & ran a Pub, however as i do not know the area at all so am wondering what areas would be covered by the Reg District Chester & Ellesmere Port  (where may he have lived) & Cheshire being stated as the Inferred County, i am unsure what this means? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Amanda

Hi Amanda

Its actually quite a big area and the city of Chester itself has a large number of pubs without looking at the town of Ellesmere Port (and its major car manufactoring factory)and the various villages. Your best bet would be to get his death certificate as that should have his residential address.

There is also a major hospital there, The Countess of Chester Hospital, which attracts patients from a wide area including North Wales.

Andy
