ARBERTHANY-Kincardineshire MOVED
« on: Wednesday 20 January 10 16:12 GMT (UK) »
A relative gave his place of birth in <1800> as Arberthany-Kincardineshire.

After exhaustive searches I found that I have no idea where this place is.
But I have recently been informed that it could have been the name of a farm.
James Roberts (farmer) and wife Forbes Mitchell had 3 children, Charles Roberts (b) <1797> Kinneff. Margaret Roberts (b) <1807> Kinneff and John Roberts (b) 1800 Arberthany.?

John Taylor (farmer) marries Jane Forbes and has 1 child, Jane (b) <1800>.
John Roberts marries Jane Taylor <1828> and Jane also gives her place of birth as Arberthany.?

If it Arberthany was a farm then it could be possible that both familys lived there.

Is there any one out there that just might be able to shed some light on this conundrum.

Many thanks
John.

Hello,

I note that the IGI at www.familysearch.org.uk has a Charles Robert b.  29 Aug 1814 to this couple  Note the lack of 's'.  There can't be many ladies called Forbes Mitchell.  Charles born in Kinneff and Catterline, Kincardine, Sotland.

Regards,   Steve

Thanks Steve for your input.

Charles Roberts without the 's' was noted in my research.

Alot of Robert's added an 's' to their name so I think it is only to be expected.

I'm still not sure of the Aberthany part though.

regards

John
