My G-G-grandmother was Amy Amander Cope (born 1834) married James Heath in 1855. Amy's parents were Thomas & Eliza Cope both born Cir 1801.
The Newchapel parish registers contain a number of the Cope family. (Newchapel is only a couple of miles from Tunstall).
Bosson, Williams, Appleby, Cornfield.
Heath, Riley, Frost. Jones.

Don't suppose this will help much, but the birth of (Victoria) Agnes dau. of George Cope was registered in Wolverhampton 1839 iii.
I think she was b. at Tettenhall, where she was m. on 15 Aug. 1866 to Thomas Herbert Laurence, stock jobber.

In the 1891 census you'll find them in Godstone, Surrey.
I think he too was known by his middle name; in at least one census that's given as Hubert, and in at least one the surname is shown as Lawrence.

They're just in-laws in my tree, so that's all I have on them.
Bagwell of Kilmore & Lisronagh, Co. Tipperary;  Beatty from Enniskillen;  Brown from Preston, Lancs.;  Burke of Ballydugan, Co. Galway;  Casement in the IoM and Co. Antrim;  Davison of Knockboy, Broughshane;  Frobisher;  Guillemard;  Harrison in Co. Antrim and Dublin;  Jones around Burton Pedwardine, Lincs.;  Lindesay of Loughry;  Newcomen of Camlagh, Co. Roscommon;  Shield;  Watson from Kidderminster;  Wilkinson from Leeds

Hello, I am researching my family tree. I was born in stone Staffordshire . My maternal grandfather was Norman Atkins Cope . My great great uncles (amongst others) were twins, James and John cope born in 1895, their mother was Olive Stanier from Aston and their father was Edward Thomas Cope I believe.  On my fathers side I have traced my family back to the Sawyer family of Norton in the Moors (Staffordshire Moorlands)and I believe that my great great great grandfather, William Sawyer married Mary Mayer.
I am surprised to find this link between the Cope's and the Mayer on my mother's side and  also on my father's side!!!
Does anyone have any more information?
Thanks!

Btw, Frirsh,
My great great auntie was called Mary Cope , daughter of olive cope (née Stanier), sister of James and John Cope. She was born in Stone in 1890.
