The first definite Leic Rawson of mine was Thomas, who died in 1784. Although he was decribed as FWK in his will, he was actually a frameowner etc, mixed with the Leicester high and mighty and left a substantial sum of money in his will.
I wonder if he was the Thomas who was bapt son of William in 1730, in Leicester.
There was a William Rawson who married Ann Chapman in Leicester in 1740-something (sorry, notes not to hand) - he was apparently from Nottingham and presumably well off, as Ann again came from one of Leicester's leading families.
I can't now remember how I made a tentative Selston connection though! I'll have to scour my notes---
