Lawrence Macfarlane, Liverpool, Lancs
« on: Tuesday 19 January 10 13:26 GMT (UK) »
My great grand uncle Lawrence Macfarlane (sometimes spelt Mcfarlane, McFarland etc) was born circa 1828 in Lancashire.  I have found him on the 1841 Census living with his mother Ann, and siblings Samuel, Catherine and George in Liverpool.

I am unable to find a death for him but have found the family on the 1851 without him, although he would have been 23 by then, so may have been married, but I can't even find a marriage for him.

I just haven't a clue where he has disappeared to, does anyone have any clues as to where I can look?

Thanks

Chrissy

I have just found a death in 1858 of a Macfarlane (vol 8b Page 177) in Liverpool which doesn't give the first name until you go into the transcription and the name either looks like "Lilias" or "Silias"  or "Lihas" or Sihas".  If this is him that would solve all my problems!!

This definately isn't my Macfarlane - In 1841 the family were living in Liverpool on the 1851 Census they are living in Ecclesall Bierlow, Sheffield and as this death was in 1858 in Liverpool it's can't be him.  Any help finding him, as he may still have been alive on the 1851 census (and I just can't find him) would be much appreciated.

Large parts of the 1851 census in Manchester were originally not transcribed due to the poor state of the originals. You can find out more here - http://www.1851-unfilmed.org.uk/ - and on other siites.

There is more information about other missing areas at the bottom of this link - http://search.ancestry.co.uk/search/db.aspx?dbid=8860

I have found the rest of the family in 1851 it's just that he doesn't appear with them.  However he would be 23, but I can't find him anywhere in the country.  I have searched for a marriage and death but no luck with either.  Any other ideas where I can look?

Could you let me know what other siblings you have apart from these:
Lawrence B: 1828
Catherine B: 1830
Samuel B: 1830
George Charles B: 1839
Charlotte B: 1842
James B: 1844

I thought there maybe some more children between 1830 and 1839
