Hi

My husband has the same family in his tree and we haven't got any further either, so I would also be grateful for the advice!

Just out of interest, Rob, do you mind me asking who is your link? We share Robert, and it's his daughter, Catherine, who married Alexander Hutchison, who is my husband's ggg grandmother.

In Irish Origins I located the following -
Dublin City census 1851
Just 1 Robert Mullen listed, - 21 Blackhall Street, Barrister.

Griffiths Valuation (1847 - 1864)  Robert Mullen
1 in Dublin, as above.
3 in Antrim      4 in Armagh      4 in Donegal    1 in Fermanagh
1 in Galway     3 in Londonderry     1 in Meath

William Smith O'Brien Petition (Signed in 1848-49)
This contains the same Robert Mullen in Dublin City and
1 in Westmeath and 1 in Mayo.

My paternal ancestors were also Mullen/Mullins, but so far, all in Dublin. Other spellings are Mullan, and MacMullen which is numerous in Antrim and Down - the form of the Scottish 'MacMillan' used in Ireland.
Do you know if he was a Catholic or Protestant?  'Robert' was most likely a Prot. name, and more likely to come from the northern Counties.

Brendan

Seems to be a lot of interest in the Mullen / Mullin family atm.

Have you seen the topics on the Dublin board?
