Thanks Ruskie
Yes I went on a national trust tour that included Paul McCartney and John Lennon's houses .Id have loved it just for the 50s vibe never mind the Beatles history but to mee John's house was where I could visualize my dad playing harmonica .singing and studying
The list of students who lived there is in a book in dining room .my dad's surname is misspelt he was there from 1948-50 and walked across to Birkenhead to court my mum and regale her with stories of his strict landlady ! Never mentioned the 8 year old and would have assumed he was John Smith so didn't know he'd grown up to be famous !
I.ll ask my mum about Woolton...girlfriends were not permitted inside MENDIPS we should book a tour together so she can go inside 75 years later !

Hope you enjoy the story Brigid.
The tour was very good but John and Paul's houses were closed as we booked an afternoon slot to miss the crowds on the tour buses. It worked very well.

I've not had time to start reading it's daunting so many pages ...is there not a summary of each section or resume of the story anywhere . I tried to go to part one and comment so I would find it again but comments are closed .
I remember that the tours were quite expensive .

Part one of these threads is closed so no more replies can be added. It’s an an old thread of over 70 pages, so to be expected. You can always reply on this thread. :)

I started reading it again from the beginning - got as far as about 15 pages into part two. There was talk of a summary, so presumably it is there somewhere. Maybe one of the regular contributors will recall where the summary is.

It’s worth reading the entire thread with all the twists and turns, especially since we all know what happens in the end. I had to smile in part one when Annie said that Robert was not in St Peter’s Woolton.  :'(
