I am researching the Spencer family (my in laws)  I know they lived in Skipton/Keighley area but can find no births for them , I have found A Vera and a Violet born in Basford,  I dont know who their parents were, all I can say is that Violet married Edward Tebb in 1932/3 They also had a brother Cedric but can find no trace of him , I think Vera would be born 1906/7 & Violet 1910/11 I will send for birth certificate's but I dont know who their parents are,  can you help me get started,  Regards Helena

A free search of the 1911 census shows a Vera Spencer aged 5 in Skipton with Edward Spencer aged 29 and Mary Jane aged 28.

FreeBMD shows a Violet Spencer birth registered  September Q 1911, and Cedric Spencer in June Q of 1916, both in Skipton district, with mother's maiden name LAW.

FreeBMD also shows an Edward Spencer marrying in Jun Q of 1905 in Skipton district, with Mary Jane LAW on the same page.

Hi,

I am Cedric's Grandson and am now starting to check out his lineage.  Edward and Mary both died quite young, although Cedric, Vera and Violet all lived well into the late 20th century.  Cedric lived most of his life in Lincolnshire from the late 40 to his death in 1995.  He had one son, my dad Brian.  He was in business in Bourne, Lincolnshire from the late 40s till the early 70s and had a shop which sold and repaired radios and later on TVs.  I have two sons and so this Spencer line continues with me as of course Cedric was the only boy (as was my dad). Hope this helps. Let me know if you find any thing out (i.e. Edward's parents) as, like i say, I have only just begun

I remember Cedric & Vera & Brian, I married Peter Tebb son of Violet & Edward. Peter died 4 years ago, but (*) are still alive, so that would make them your cousins. I remember visiting your grandad Cedric when he had the TV shop in Peterborough, and my 2 children who  would be your 2nd cousins.  (*) I do have some info on the Spencers and a lovely photo of Cedric with Edward Tebb, give me your email I will forward what I have to you

Wow, thanks for that! My email is    (*)
I would appreciate anything you can send regarding the Spencers and the photo would be lovely.  I met Peter at Grandad's funeral along with one of his brothers - Dad told me the sad news that he had died. I regret I never met Violet or Vera and that I don't really know any of grandad's family at all nor know much about his early life in Yorkshire or his ancestors (hence the digging now).  Looking forward to your email.
