Looking for info for Jane Wilson who was born in Broughton 1852. daughter of James Wilson and Jane Richie.
She married Hugh Rodger in 1875 at Cambusnethan.
She became a young widow so I wonder if she remarried and that is the reason I can not find any details of her death. Hope someone out there can help

Welcome to RootsChat  :)

Is this Jane in 1891? Likely not remarried at this point (did husband Hugh die in 1882 - from family trees on Ancestry):

Jane Rodger 38, outworker b. Broughton, Peebles Shire
Jane Rodger 11 b. Douglas

Address: Cotton Houses, Douglas, Lanarkshire

Margaret Rodger 27 b. Shotts
Jane Rodger 49, mother, Formerly Out Door Worker, b. Skerling (?spl), Peebles
Hugh Rodger under 2 months b. Libberton

Address: Craigielea Cottage, Libberton Lanarkshire

There is a potential second marriage showing for son James in 1914 to a Susan Main Johnstone. Maybe the marriage certificate would give you some clues regarding his mother Jane. Or his death certificate in 1933.

This information comes the family trees on Ancestry, so don't know how accurate this data is without verification.

I think this may be the one you are looking for.

Jane Wilson & Hugh Rodger had a daughter (also) Jane and she married Alexander McLaren in 1901.

Bearing this in mind, there is a death record (4/11/1930) of Jane Rodger, aged 79, in Douglas, Lanark, widow of Hugh Rodger (coal miner). Her parents are listed as James & Janet Wilson m.s. Brownlie (not Ritchie) however the death was registered by A McLaren, (son in law).

Ramsay, Struthers, Stark (Avondale, Lanarkshire) Haughey, Martin (Ballyrashane) Neely, Fraser (Londonderry) Hill (Anderston, Glasgow), Cranstoun, Carruthers (Dumfries) MacIndoe (Springburn & Bridgeton, Glasgow) McKay (Springburn, Glasgow) Fraser (Paisley)

yes James Crawford Rodger was married twice, Susan Main Johnstone was his second wife.  They are my Gran and Grand Dad it's his father Hugh's wife that I am looking for.
I know most of my mother's side (Rodger) lived in Douglas and are buried there. Hugh's father James married Jane Greenshields from Douglas. I will go onto Scotland"s people and do some more digging.
Thanks everybody

My Gran was Annie Murray Rodger daughter of Hugh's brother Thomas Greenshields Thomson Rodger. Earlier today I visited my sister who was wanting to compare some notes on the Rodger's side of the family and I decided it was time to do some more research & ended up on here!

I have a large folder of information relating to Hugh's mother's family the Greenshields.  A pedigree was drawn up for James Greenshields (son of George Ballantyne Greenshields and Margaret Bisset), who died intestate on 3 June 1958, it shows that Hugh and Jane married in 1875 and that they had no issue.  However, this has been corrected in the folder showing a son James C Rodger b 1876 in Douglas and Jean G G Rodger born 1881.  It also states in the folder that Hugh died in a pit accident in 1882.

Hi MCThomson.

Yes -- Hugh Rodger (B)1854 at Dalserf and died of his injuries which was caused in a mining accident at Glespin Coal Mine in 1882 was my great grandfather. He married Jane Wilson 1852-1930. Their  son James C Rodger  (B)1876-1933 (my grandfather) was married twice first to Margaret Adams who died 1913 leaving five or six children behind , then he married Susan Main Johnstone (b) 1887-1943 and went on to have six children with Susan. James and Susan are both buried in Wilton Cemetery in Carluke!
