If someone died in Nettlesworth in 1910 where are they likely to be buried please?

Hi Parmesan

It might be easier to find them if you post all the details you have, rather than second guessing where they were buried  :D

Hi

I have the death certificate, its my gt, gt, grandmother, Annie Yates - 1845 - 1910, and she died in Nettlesworth, Plawsworth.  Just wondered what the most likely cemetery would be so I can have a go at finding her grave.

I know Nettlesworth is a very small place in Durham

Hi Parmesan

Here's a list of places and their parishes, Nettlesworth comes under Chester le Street, and Sacristan:

http://www.durhamrecordoffice.org.uk/recordoffice/dro.nsf/vwebplaces?OpenView&Startkey=N

and here's the link to Durham County Council burial registers for that area:

Hope this helps,
Barbara

Alternatively send a PM to Adamand.  He has transcribed a lot of memorial inscriptions in the Durham area and he would probably know where to look

Hi Barbara

Thanks for these links.  A lot of my father's family came from that area so they could be very useful  :D

Hi Linda,

I was pleased to see the Chester-le-Street burial registers online, wish more would do that!

Happy hunting

Barbara  :)

Hi thanks both.  :)

Barbara, thanks for the link, I'd checked the Chester-le-Street and Sacristan burial records with no luck (I did find two other family members tho'  ;))

Linda I think I might do that, thanks.

I wondered whether Nettlesworth had its own little graveyard where she might be buried.

I agree those councils that have the facility to search for graves online give an excellent service - Manchester is another one worthy of praise.  Salford on the other hand  >:(

Hi I know this is an old thread but I’m new and could help !
I live in nettlesworth and was searching for Yates as my family history search found my grandad was married before my Gran to a Catherine yates born 1910.  Catherine and daughter Nora died in a house fire In middle row in March 1933.
Front St, middle row, back row and breuks neuk are all demolished now. I’ve got a picture of front street around that time of you want it ?
Kimblesworth church has a small grave yard that I could check for you if you’d like ?
Or nettlesworth had a Methodist chapel (demolished) that had no graveyard. (Now houses -Church mews on Google maps - this is opposite where front street and the rows were)
Sacriston St. Peter’s church is closed now
Sacriston St. Bede’s (catholic) is still open.
Think they both use the same cemetery though.
Witton Gilbert have an ancient church (St. Michael all angels) which is still open.
Thanks 😊
