Shap Coach Crash - COMPLETED - with thanks.
« on: Friday 15 January 10 16:02 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone have any information about a coach crash that happened on Shap, round about Jungle Cafe in 1953?
I believe an American gentleman was among the fatalities. He may have been related to The Dennisons, originally of Whitwell and Selside.
Thanks.

McDowell. Cockermouth.

I know of the crash.
My mother and father were in the bus. They were unmarried at the time and looking forward to the trip.
Dad escaped with few injuries but my mother was unconscious for a time and bably injured after the accident.
I will have a word with her and if she can help you with any details please let me know.

Thank you for the reply.I would hate to stir up bad memories for your mum.
The couple iam interested in were elderly Americans called Florence and Ernest Dennison. They were visiting family. Unfortunatly Florence died in hospital after the crash.
Have you seen the link on the reply above? The article is very interesting. Regards Caron.

Hi. I am new on here, but would the person looking for info on the Dennisons like to email or get in touch with me. I have copies of the paper from 1953 regarding the crash and the inquiry afterwards as these were all on a closed file with the coroner which I had opened as one of the Americans, Florence, was a relation of mine and I would like some more info if anyone has any. Thanks cliffy1970

Hello.  I have information on Ernest Dennison's family and the Shap Coach Crash. I would very much like to speak with both  lennie13 and cliffy1970.

As a matter of fact, I think I have been trying to get a hold of cliffy1970 for a while if he is the gentleman that posted on CuriousFox looking for information about Florence.

Please email me ..................................................

Here is a link to the FindAGrave memorial I made for Ernest:
