Hi roofy, there are several Porter families in Swindon. One of  my grandfathers sisters married a Porter. I have not done any research on that line, so I cannot help if there is a connection, but you will have to give more information to have any chance.

hello youngtug,
my I havent heard that nickname since the late 70's. Used to know a guy called Tug, was into rock and roll, so was his son.

I am still getting names of siblings and such, what was your grandfathers sisters name? feel free to pm me if you dont want to give all the details out.
thanks for getting back to me,
all the best
