I would be really greatful if anyone could look for the baptism of William Eastham, born c. 1795 in Cuerden, and almost certainly baptised as RC. I imagine he would therefore have been baptised at either St Joseph's Brindle or St Mary's Brownedge.

Age given as 56 in 1851, but 50 in 1841, so I would expect him to be born between 1790 and 1795.

Thanks

Clare

Hi, thanks very much. I saw that posting and it prompted me to ask for the lookup, but I thought I had to do it by posting a new request. I don't seem to be able to reply to the original posting, I think it's locked.

Maybe he/she was overwhelmed by requests!

Thanks anyway!

Clare

The register for Brindle is available online as a free download

http://www.archive.org/index.php

click on text and then search for Catholic Record Society and it should come up.

Hi,

I can`t see him at Brindle, but I thought I would post the link to this book that is online as it may be useful.  It contains RC records for Brindle and Samlesbury:

www.archive.org/details/lancashireregist23cath

Just click on the book at the left hand side to open.

The Easthams are indexed on page 400.

Regards,
Mo

Thanks to both of you for the info on the online catholic records, that's really exciting! I think I may find other family lines in there too, so a very useful link.

I haven't found a William the right age yet, but getting closer!

Clare

St Joseph's Brindle now complete.

I'd still be really grateful for any info from St Mary's Brownedge. I've checked Euxton Hall and Salmesbury, if there are any other RC registers in the Cuerden area in 1790-95 then I'd be interested to know. Thanks

Hi Clare64

I have tried to get rid of my original name of pagr as it was on another computer, not mine and so I don't get messages. My name is now paslwigr. I can help you with any Brindle, Walton le Dale, or Brownedge requests. I am sorry not to have been able to help so far. Please contact me through my name now.
I have told Roots chat to change my name but nothing happens.

Hi Clare64,
I have checked Brownedge St Mary's and he isn't there. I have rechecked Brindle St Joseph's and no luck there either. There are two William Easthams baptised at Samlesbury RC both too early, one in 1785 and one in 1786. No place of birth is given, but seems too far for a Cuerden birth. I have checked St Chad's RC Whittle le Woods and nothing there either. Just to be sure I looked at the C of E register for St Leonard's Walton le Dale and he is not there either.
Sorry, if anything turns up I will let you know.

Thanks very much for checking anyway, at least I know now where he isn't!

The strange thing is that I'm sure a relative found an entry somewhere which gave the mother as Mary Eastham, but I have no idea where this was and what the details were, if any! Another mystery ...

Thanks again

Clare
