Sorting the WOOD's from the tree's...who was Rev Wood of Rendham?
« on: Tuesday 12 January 10 00:43 GMT (UK) »
Help!!!!

I am trying to decipher my Wood ancestors- and there are too many Samuel Wood's!!

So far I have identifed there is a Rev Samuel Wood who was minister in Woodbridge until 1848, and his son Rev Samuel Wood who was minister in Framlington from 1740-1756.

Then there is a nephew/cousin Samuel Wood who was preaching in Norwich about 1748 (he preached at his uncle's funeral in 1748)- but I am unsure of his parentage.

Finally there is a Rev Wood minister to the dissenting congregation in Rendham (abt 5 mls from Framlington) at this same time, and I am wondering if he might be:
a. Brother to Samuel Wood Snr of Woodbridge
b. Father to Samuel Wood of Norwich

Can anyone find out his first name, or any other info on him please??
Thanks so much
A very confused Kylie B!!

Hi.  My direct ancestor was Philip Brewer who was deacon in Rendham when Rev. Wood was the minister.  It is possible that Philip's wife, Anne French of Benhall, was the daughter of Bathsheba Wood French, perhaps a relation?  There is some information on your Rev. Samuel Wood here in the section on Rendham beginning on p. 219:  https://archive.org/details/historyofcongreg00hosk/page/218/mode/2up?q=rendham
