I have checked 1881/91/01 and 1911.
This is a mystery I have been trying to crack for over 5 years. After 1881 2 of the eldest children also disappear off the face of the earth.
I was hoping your psychic powers may help   :)
There is a Mary Ann dying in Leeds around the right time and age but it is not her.

Any help appreciated

GEDCOM, I have no information about your ancestor, but if the psychics can help I am sure they will. Keep at it, I've been looking for John Luffman since I first started researching back in 1996, so you have a bit to go yet.

Well Redroger looks like I may have to wait as long as you as the psychic powers do not seem to be working at the mo?

My gran was a Spiritualist but she hasn't come through to me with details of her father.  Perhaps I'm not concentrating hard enough ::)  All I want to know is who his parents were and I'll do the rest of the research myself.

Perhaps because its too close to home.  You know the old gambit, you can help others but you cannot help yourself! ??? ::)

marcie

you can see other peoples problems solved, but sometimes you do not even know that you have a problem or see the answer.

Have read this topic with interest!  Last week I visited a psychic who told me my Grandfather Harry was present!  I never knew Harry, his marriage to my Grandmother was a bigamous one and he disappeared around 1920/1.   Frustratingly, the psychic then went on to inform me that Harry had a third 'wife', that he had fathered another child whilst in France and that he had also had two other children apart from my father.  "Of course," the psychic proclaimed, "you'll never be able to find them!!"  Some psychic!  I would at least have expected names, dates and GRO references, LOL.

Hi all

Reading with interest...

Unfortunately, I am an only child and my mum died when I was just 18, my grandparents followed 2 years later - and although my stepdad is still alive and I love him dearly, he knows absolutely nothing about my mum's side of the family. I have no knowledge of my biological father at all, and I'm not really worried. I do have some questions about Mum's side though; I'd *love* to find some answers through a medium but I have no idea how you would go about finding a good, reliable one. Any ideas?  I have names and dates back to 1800 in most of the branches but there are strange anomalies that only people from history would be able to answer. I do wonder if it is possible.

My mum was very interested in spiritualism etc and always promised that if she could come back to 'speak' to me she would, but I've never had any strange occurences :(  I'm a great big scaredcat though so perhaps she knows it would just frighten me, I don't know.

I tried going to a medium once, but didn't really find anything out that couldn't have been explained by statistics - she said there was something about a horse and I dismissed it but then I got home and remembered my Dad had fallen off a horse in Australia just a few months ago - but that is quite vague really.

I would love some advice from anyone here who has experienced it and/or can recommend it. (No stupid comments, please, this is quite sensitive subject for me as I still miss my mum desperately).

Regards
Rachel

I have never been to psychic, hadn't considered it ever, but I would never close myself off to anything in life.  I agree with the poster that said he wasn't arrogant enough to think he knows everything.

Aside from psychics, has anyone ever experienced *knowing* that a particular document was right before opening it?

I occasionally find that when I going through documents on ancestry, that  get a feeling that *this one* that I am opening is the right one.  That feeling has never been wrong.  It doesn't happen often, but when it does, it's right.

I have found it to be weird, and just wondered if anyone else experiences something similar.

Like someone else said, you shouldn't rely on that gut instinct or what a psychic says, but it can give some direction for further investigation.

Hi,

I'd love to experience that, I have often 'felt' that an ancestor was going to be the right one or been drawn to a particular name when scanning through something - unfortunately my instinct has been wrong every time so far   :-\ I am, perhaps, not as 'in tune' as I'd like to be.
