There is a book "Psychic Roots" Serendipity & Intuition in Genealogy

By henry Z Jones Jr who wa sa character actor for Disney and others.

A collection of responses to the question "is some unseen force guiding you to the clues in family History"

I must admit I hadnt really considerd that ancestors could be watching you 'stalking' them on the internet.

I guess it gives more motivation to be accurate and hypothesize about them in the best possible light

I must admit I`ve had the feeling that a particular person has been my relative and have been right, but only on one branch of the family. This has happened twice.

I have my eye on one particular marriage that I  `feel` is mine but it is two generations back from where I`m at now - time will tell.

I did have a strange thing happen to me years ago. It was my first visit to my new boyfriend`s family home. I was upstairs in the bathroom, and thought he was behind me. I was chatting away when the hairs on the back of my neck stood on end. I asked a question and waited for the answer, when none came, I went outside and looked for the boyfriend...he wasn`t there. I told him that I thought he had been behind me. About a month later he told me that his Mother had died when he was young, she had collapsed on the landing outside the bathroom door.

Maybe she was checking me out to see if I was good enough for her son !!

I was just re-visiting my old posts when I came upon this one about "psychic genealogy" and mentioned some facts a psychic had told me about my Grandfather, Harry.  Do I now have a little bit of egg on my face?  Having done a lot more research I did discover Harry had married for a third time, and although I could find no evidence of a child born in France, he did in fact have three other children!!  Sadly my Dad's half brother died just after I made contact with his 'new' family, but I am corresponding with my Dad's half sisters!!  Spooky - or what?
Has any other RootsChatter come this "close"??

Hi all
I came across this post the other day - I would like to add a story here but think it may come under the category of "Spooky genealogy".  Many years ago I made a trip with my Mum & Auntie to the City of London cemetery in Little Ilford.  My mum had it in her mind to visit a number of cemeteries where some of her family were buried.  (I was only a teen at the time and genealogy was not really on my mind). I remember visiting the cemetery office where Mum & Auntie were given directions and a plot number.  Now I don't know if any of you have been to this cemetery but it is just vast - we looked and looked and really just could not find this grave.  As I was looking I became aware in my peripheral vision of a woman dressed in a long dark dress standing behind me and diagonally to my right shoulder, near a tree.  I turned around to get a better look - and you guessed it there was no one there. I was finding nothing where I had been looking even tho' I had followed the directions given by the office. I decided to look near the tree where I had seen the lady standing.  Mmmm, you guessed it - there was the grave we had been looking for containing my great-grandmother & great grandfather. It didn't feel spooky at the time, but I am thankful she gave us a helping had because I don't think we would have looked over by that tree.

I have also (once or twice) thought  it would be great to contact a medium or spiritualist but never felt brave enough.  My other thought was to try hypnosis  - as I know I have been told by my Grandad (again as a teenager) the names of his father, grandfather etc. I seem to remember him reeling off about four names and for the life of me I just can't remember what they are!

I guess I will just have to keep trying with more conventional methods!

You don't need pyschics or hynosis to find out that information.  Get your grandad's birth or marriage certificate that should show his father, then get his grandfather's marriage or birth cert.  By now you are probably back to at least 1911 and can search for the family in the various census.

Lizzie

ps.  You probably knew that anyway. ;D

Well, I to have just looked at this post, and  feel a bit foolish.
I consulted a medium-clairvoyant re my position at moment, she kept asking what about Peter and John they are here , do you recognise them???,as to present situation and said NO !!!
But as some of you may know from some of my posts-LATER I was reminded-that I am searching my Peter Lunt's birth-but I was so involved with what happening now-I said no!!
Well, spookkily or not recently have been contacted by very distant cousin??? re family and have aquired a whole lot of definite info and family registers re my Peter and his father----- my clairvoyant now I realis e is good-but she did say think about it !!!
