I might be able to make it if it's Liverpool. Month not an issue.

There's a Shiverpool tour that runs from the Phil pub some evenings... primarily a ghost tour, but naturally includes various tales of Liverpool's infamous.

For the more adventurous (and non-claustrophobic) amongst you, you can arrange to view Williamson's Tunnels.... the chap who built a warren under the city... reason still disputed!

There are a few budget hotels around the docks, plus a new travelodge on the A550/East lancs Rd (main drag into Liverpool from the M57)

Hi Everyone,

the date draws nearer, and there doesn't seem to be anything definite, about what we are doing or where anyone wants to go in Liverpool ???

Does this mean, we are turning up in Liverpool and deciding there and then what will happen? This could cost us a lot of valuable time.

If we want a schedule of sorts we need to start planning now.

What does everyone think?

Hiya everyone......I am finding this a little hard to follow....I live in Liverpool and if you don`t mind me saying so we have had a couple of meets over the last 4 years and we need a bit more definite location / times / agenda.....
firstly may I suggest that meeting at 10 to 10-30 on the Saturday morning is a little early as this means anyone travelling by train to Lime Street will have to set off very early...we need those who are coming, to post what time THEIR trains get in and then we can see what`s the best time for all within one hour...you have to realise that it sounds like MOST people will be staying in the budget Hotels down by the Albert Dock...this is a Tourist area and the prices in the pubs will reflect this...
in the past we have met up in a pub - had a meal and chatted about genealogy and life in general...then after about 3-4 hours people drift away and then go and do their own thing ...Ferry Cruise - Duck Ride -Anfield-Goodison-Maritime Museum-Shiverpool etc etc...can we all agree on a meeting place....usually a pub where people can sit down , relax , and introduce themselves....if it is a pub , probably best around 12 noon ..this will give those who have had breakfast in the Dock Hotels a little time to do a bit of sightseeing , and those coming up by car or train a bit more time to arrive....for those who don`t know Lime St to Albert Dock is quite a walk so we need a venue first and foremost.....please understand that I am not trying to browbeat anyone , it`s just that we had one about 4 years ago and we met in Wetherspoons...a very busy pub that does cheap meals and it was very very crowded and to me it was a disaster..we need suggestions for a suitable meeting place ...please don`t be afraid to suggest a venue...the more suggestions we have the better the choice for us all to decide.allan ???

The Phil might be worth considering. It's a large pub, and not normally overcrowded. There are also various rooms to choose from (they might even be willing to reserve one for us). It has a bit of history, which is an added bonus, given our interests (take in a tour of the gents loo!), and is amongst some of our more cared for heritage sites around Hope St & Rodney St.

Hi Katie,

Having not long arranged the Birmingham meet I know how important it is to go visit a pub or two and book and let them know we are coming also look for activities close to the pub.  Also give everyone who is coming a contact number (via pm) that way yu will know who is arriving and when

the evening before some of the over nighters met for dinner about 7pm

I did a set criteria for the day
10-10.30am meet up at the Museum
12.15pm we met up to stroll along canals to lunch
1pm pub lunch (I even had them send me menus when I phoned booking through)
after lunch we went off to see the catherdral ( we didn't put time on just drifted     and then went for coffee and more strolling
In the evening those of us who were left met up for dinner at about 7.30pm

Its all very overwhelming but try to keep everything in close proximity and let me know if yu need help - I will do my best Mel x

I think the Phil is a great suggestion...5 min walk from Lime St  ...great history and architecture
I have to go to town for my new glasses ...and I`ll call in and see what they say and possibly get a menu....doesn`t mean it`s done and dusted...I`ll get some info....allan ;)
