The Cityscape painting is amazing... though not a 100% true representation of the scene - one of the football grounds had to be moved a few yards so the artist could fit it in, so as not to offend its fans... I forget whether it was Anfield or Goodison that had to be moved... and I'll stop now before we stray off topic again ;-)

St George's Hall looks fantastic and I do like the look of that yellow Duckmarine thingy.

Also a " must see while you are there"  I the two cathedrals. The Anglican and the Roman catholic ( Known as Paddy's wigwam) but there are so many beautifully churches in the city.

There are a couple of budget chain hotels down on Wapping, near the Albert Dock (and also near the Baltic Fleet, which brews some excellent beers in their cellar).

Another excellent pint or three can be had in Dr Duncan's, opposite St. George's Hall (I reckon you walked the wrong way, Migky), and then there's the Philhamonic Dining Rooms, halfway between the cathedrals, with its over-the-top decor EVERYWHERE. The Gents in there are a tourist attraction in their own right (ladies are allowed to view them too).......
Looking at ALSTON in south Ribble area, ALSTEAD and DONBAVAND/DUNBABIN etc. everywhere, HOWCROFT and MARSH in Bolton and Westhoughton, PICKERING in the Whitehaven area.

How I would like to get to Liverpool again..  The Albert Dock has the Maritime Museum which has an Archive for shipping. It also has the Lloyds Directories, a must for hunting any seamen and their ships.

Liverpool Catherdrals!

R.C. (Wigwam) is 2min walk & then 2 Bus stops away from Lime Street Station.

To get to the CofE from Lime Street Satation, 1min walk to bus stop then 2 stops & further 2-3min walk.

If (like Me) you don't mind walking, You can walk to the Wigwam from Lime Street Station in @10mins then from there @5mins to CofE! :) ;)

(I reckon you walked the wrong way, Migky).......

Been a Mancunian, i always walk this way  ;D Have spent many a happy weekend in Liverpool, i just wonder round till i find some place i like. As for the  Philharmonic Dining Rooms, i called in there one afternoon, what a beautyfull place it is in side. Heaven knows how many trees gave up there life for the furnishings of the place and the tiling is just one of many great mosaics around the city be it in the pub or the Church's. Sad part was the service  i received in there was very poor and they had run out of Guinness. So did not stop for a meal went across the road in Hope street to a bar that did Guinness and got a mega bowl of scouse and wholemeal brad for a few quid.

Migky  ;)

Katie

Sounds a grand idea. Liverpool would prefer but will go with majority. Put me down for 2!
