high wycombe rescue service 1944

I have found a photo of the guys in this service and looked on the net for some history on it but cannot find any . Has anyone any info as the photo has the names of at least 60 men on it.

You don't say whether these men are in uniform, is there any hint what service they are in?

Two organisations in Wycombe at this time were the RAF which trained pilots at Booker Aerodrome & the American Airforce at Daws Hill Lane.  I cannot think that the fire service in Wycombe would have as many as 60 men in it.

This is why it puzzles me . The names of the men were listed at the bottom and they all seem local names . the guys are all in uniform. I wondered if they were a division of the home guard.

Success (of sorts).  There is a copy of this photo on the Buckinghamshire County Council website under SWOP (Sharing Wycombe's Old Photographs).  It was donated by Ronald Goodearl who was my mother's cousin and was also my godfather.  He was a professional photographer & collected many photos of Wycombe.

Also there when you type in Rescue Service, is a photo of men who won a cup for that organisation & on their uniform is clearly marked CD.  I take it that stands for Civil Defence.

good searching i have alot to learn about finding out things on the net rather than just buying. Thank you very much this is the same picture i have. I now need to find who`s picture it was as i found it in a loft.
