suggest 1921 as he seems to apply the same numbering technique to those I do have reasonably secure dates for - this period probably a charabanc - if you get to Manx Museum they have list of licence plate issue dates (try library@mnh.gov.im) but I suspect they will suggest employing an on Island researcher.

There is no other dating mechanism that I know of

Thank you Frances. 1921 seems to be about the right time.

have just been re reading the history for James and I have got written down he died on the 11 Aug 1918 aged 80. BURIED in Douglas, Isle of Man. I have no idea who gave this to me or a date. As I have gotten on in this lineage I have learnt to write dates and the resource received from.

No   Brutons   buried  in   IOM   at  all    in    the   available  index.   You   could   check   for   a  death   cert.  for   11th

Aug.   1918 :  it  was   possible  for  a   coffin  to  be   transported  on    the    ferry  to   UK   for  burial  there.  No

cremations   in   IOM   at   that   time.

now I'm confused (very easily done) - to quote Voirrey "No   Brutons   buried  in   IOM   at  all    in    the   available  index.  " - must admit I didn't check this at time - I agree this is not a death cert (this should be ordered from Gen Registry and should give cause of death, informant etc assuming death was also on Island) - the entry is quoted from my own copy of Brian Lawson's burial index (I havn't noted that this is a correction which I have to quite a number of index entries so I assume as initially published)
