Tracing Convicts Details?
« on: Saturday 09 January 10 07:33 GMT (UK) »
I have found a record for a John Fullard, one of 182 convicts transported on the Georgiana, 29 March 1831. Convicted at Middlesex Gaol Delivery for a term of 7 years.

My question is if it is possible to work out more about this John Fullard, his birth details, date, location etc.  Would that information be Australia end or is there likely to be records Middlesex side somewhere?

Vessel: Georgiana.
Date of Departure: 29 March 1831.
Place of Arrival: New South Wales.
Source: Australian Joint Copying Project. Microfilm Roll 89, Class and Piece Number HO11/8, Page Number 73 (39)

Hi,

John appears in the convict list for arivals 1828-1832 as:
John Fullard age 21years ship Georgiana 1831, employment - M Harrigan, resience - Appin.

It appears he was tried at The Old Bailey in 1830. Indicted for stealing 56lbs. of bacon, value 25s on the 29th of October. He is stated to be twenty years of age. You can find the details of the trial on http://www.oldbaileyonline.org

A quick search of the NSW BDM came up with no possible marriage or death for him that I coul see. I also looked for FULLARD children, father John and also came up with nothing. You can search for yourself at www.bdm.nsw.gov.au Hopefully you will find something.

Maybe trying to find his birth in England around 1809 might give you more to go on.

Holly

Thanks Holly that is really helpful. I don't think he is the John I am looking for, I have his age to be 39 at the time, but will keep checking as lot of the brothers named their sons John so may still be linked. (Fulwood was the name) but around the time due to bad spelling some records show them as Fullard.
