Thanks for all your hard work Shaun,

You may be right about her pub career starting again later, but family rumour is that she had property and a pub before she met Thomas O'Grady and her ran up debts leaving her pretty destitute. He died in 1912 and is noted on my g grandmother's marriage certificate as a licensed victualler (deceased) Mary married again (to a Tom Manley) and I'm not sure if she resumed her career as a landlady.

Thanks again for all your help, it's much appreciated.

Best wishes,

Jenni

I have looked through the 1737 on-licence entries in the 1909 Licensing Book, for licensees called O'Grady or Dunlop and found only the following:
PATRICK O'Grady, manager, Crown Vaults, 71 Stanley Road.
THOMAS Dunlop, manager, 2 Cable Street.
I did not spot any Manley.

Does anyone have any pictures of The Kings Arms? I have a business on Kitchen Street which was originally 10-12 which later became number 24.
There are rumours the building used to be several stories higher before it was bombed in WW2. I would love to see a picture if it did.
