Jackroo,
About seven months ago my Ancestry subscription was up for renewal, they were offering the World Membership for half price.  :)

The other subscription was going to cost me the same price so naturally I grabbed the World one. The only problem it was only for 12 months... so if I want to keep it I will have to pay the full price when it runs out. :(

The World Membership includes all records including the Australian ones.

I've had a great time digging up my London ancestors.

However it is not cheap at the moment annual $Aud 270.51 or monthly $32.98.

Try the free trial ... see how you like it before parting with your dollars.

Ruskie.....that's interesting about Scotlands People...I'll try and get my free credits. :)

Sarra, you could cancel when your World Membership finishes then take on a different membership.

Ruskie,

Yes I will do that....however once you have had the World Membership you would not like to give it up :) however I don't see myself paying full price for it ;D ;D.

Perhaps keep my eyes open for a  Ancestry Special.

Thanks
Sarra

You can get a 10 to 15% discount from Ancestry if you become a keyer (transcriber) in their World Archives Project.  There is a link to it on the Ancestry home page.

Hi Nick,
I see the link the the World Archives Project but no mention of the discount incentive.  I'm in the process of downloading the software to see if it comes later... maybe in one of the newsletters.

I think they're playing it down, Jenny.  I'd read about the discount just before I volunteered, and a few weeks after I started with the WAP, I had a problem with my Ancestry account - I'd had my membership extended by 6 months with an offer I got with a Family Tree Maker purchase, and they hadn't automatically renewed my subscription.  Anyway, when I spoke to Ancestry Customer Services (who are a delight to talk to, incidentally) the young lady renewed my World subscription, and she said "Please hang on a minute, and we'll get a price for you".   A few moments later she returned, and she said "Because you are a keyer in the World Archives Project, we're pleased to tell you that you qualify for a 15% discount".  I've read on the WAP forums on Ancestry that you have to average 900 records per quarter to continue to qualify, but I do it just for the fun of it anyway, so that's no problem.

Best Wishes,  Nick.

Ah I see, no worries. I hadn't planned to renew for a while anyway.  I still have a FindMyPast sub running till April.

Think I'll try renewing by phone then ;)

thanks Nick
