My hero (or should I say heroine!)

Martha Martin! I will order the certificate for my collection but I am sure that you are right. I can now start checking in Twilling Gate to find out where Martha came from. She must have had a hard life there as well. It was not a very hospitable place at that period with very harsh winters and not a lot there!

I cannot thank you enough. If I find out anything stunning about Martha I will post it and let you know. I will also continue with George and his family. I am awaiting with interest to see what he died of.
Thanks again
June

Just a suggestion....for the parents of Martha Martin, focus on John Wills Martin of Twillingate.  John Wills Martin married (1) Phoebe Cooper in 1827, and (2) Martha Taylor in 1839.

The household of John Martin is included in the 1836 census for the Twillingate South Island.
