Hi Emma, just a correction to my last post.
Eleanor draper, daughter of Mary cotchin and William draper, had half brothers Israel and Spencer draper. They show up on my DNA matches on ancestry. So I am guessing that Mary cotchin had them from a previous father or William had them from a previous partner. As the match shows as my half x4 great uncle. So it would have been my gggg grandmother's half brother. I will post a screen shot of my DNA matches.
My gx4 grandmother Eleanor Draper seems to have been the second wife of John Rainbow, his first wife was Lavinia Draper, and I had read somewhere that John had stated he was a bachelor when he married Eleanor as Lavinia was her aunt.
John Rainbow and Lavinia Draper seemed to have 3 children together and then she died, which is when he then remarries Eleanor.
Hi,
That is really interesting to know that Israel and Spencer are half brothers of Eleanor, I had been trying to find out more about them but had been struggling.
I have my DNA and also my Nan's DNA on ancestry. I generally use her DNA to try and find Draper/Smith family links as I think mine, 2 generations on, might be too dilute.
So far I haven't found a match. My nan's parents were Ethel Cosby and George William Hope. Ethel's parents were William Thomas Cosby and Martha Giles and William's parent's were William Cosby and Mary Ann Draper/Smith, therefore her DNA had been divided 3 times from Mary where as mine would be 5.
Do you have a user name for ancestry as I could see if my Nan's DNA comes up with a match for you? My tree is private (requested my a few of my living relatives) so I can't use thrulines but my username is emjsw01.
That is interesting that Lavina may have been Eleanor's aunt, I feel like William (Billy) Draper may have had more children than 3 (I have Isreal and Samuel but note you mentioned before that they might not be his, they could have been Mary Cotchins').
Thank you for offering to include a screenshot of your DNA matches, for some reason I can't see them but the file limits on here are a bit of a nightmare!!
