I found Sibthorpe Bradley - he was the second son of William George and Charlotte Elizabeth (Trotter) Bradley.   Sibthorpe was born ca 1850 and qualified as a medic/surgeon and died relatively young (certainly before 1889) and had no children.   Sibthorpe is a very unusual name and probably implies a Sibthorpe married a Bradley and this was then used as a christian name.  Anyone know of a Sibthorpe marrying a Bradley in early to mid 19th Century??

If anyone becomes interested in this family of solicitors I have just discovered in the National Archives a set of papers relating to a court case in 1913 over the interpretation of William George and Charlotte Bradley's wills.  The main question was the distribution of their family house - Undercliffe, Killiney.  To clarify the legal position a case was brought by Arthur Evelyn Bradley (a solicitor with WG Bradley and sons and the youngest of the three sons of WG and Charlotte Bradley), with the daughters-in-law of William George and Charlotte Bradley (Charlotte Elizabeth Martelli and Caroline Foster Brooke), and my great Uncle William (Willie) David Bradley Jr and great Aunt Doris Bradley) as the defendants.

Now discovered that William James Bradley, solicitor to the Bank of Ireland, married Caroiline Brook Bayley and that Caroline had a brother called Sibthorpe Bayly.  Thus WJB's son called Sibthorpe after his brother-in-law.   The Bayly's like the Bradley were all solicitors.

 All in 'Irish Pedigrees' under the Bayly family. Many of you will know this book but in case you don't it is great for the gentry of Ireland.

Sorry, I was in a hurry - WJ Bradley married Caroline FOSTER Bayly.  Middle name of Foster as her godfather was Mr Foster, who was speaker of the Irish House of Commons.

While I can't add any info about the Bradley family, I thought you might be interested in some other relevant information.
My late father was a partner in W.G.Bradley & Sons for many years up until 1982 and probably knew your relative. Indeed I worked there myself for a few years as a Legal Executive back in the 70's. I attach a photo of the offices on Ormand Quay (The building with the blue and red doors). If your interested I can send you a better one. It is now a listed building so no major changes can be made to it. The Building was like a time capsule when I was there. Your relatives office (on the left in the picture) became the Interview room and was practically untouched since his day. There was a huge mahogany desk in the room and in the drawers I remember were several unread copies of the 'Irish Times' dating from the early 1900's. Some minor repairs were been done to a wall in the room at one stage and the builders found a cavity in the wall containing a small metal box with some coins in it...How long it had been there was never determined. The firm moved from Ormand Quay in the late 80's.

I am researching the family of Charlotte Elizabeth Martelli and would appreciate having more detail about the set of papers in the National Archives relating to the court case of 1913 involving members of the Bradley family that tompion mentioned on 27.01.10.

                 Whilst researching a silver cigarette box I recently purchased in an antique centre in Huntingdon, I came across this forum and your request for info on WG Bradley from Dublin .Well this lovely box is inscribed to WG Bradley on his promotion to the O'Connell street branch in January 1936 which seems to tie up with your great uncle .
the box itself is English silver and hallmarked 1934 but also has Dublin import marks as it should and measures 18x9x5 cms it has his initials inscribed on the lid and the main inscription on the front .
I bought the box because it looked interesting my mothers family come from Georges Hill Dublin and I have an interest in social history anyway ,also Dublin import marks on English silver is fairly unusual .
Also during my research I came across another website for National Library of Ireland which had a section on The Great Southern Railway of Eire it Seems that your great uncle W Gordon Bradley sat on the committee of this enterprise and there is also a photo of him on this site .
If you would like a photo of the box please let me know I will see if I can post one for you ,quite how this box came to be in England lord only knows but if it needs to be repatriated to the right family I would be willing to sell it on ,hope all this is good for you  regards Nev
