Look Up Request: James McCUDDEN, b.1790-ish
« on: Saturday 02 January 10 20:07 GMT (UK) »
Hello. I am new to this site, and have been moving about the different pages to try and figure out the best place to start.

I need you help with locating some information on the relative in the subject line. I located this information last night via the internet:
Church baptism record for son James from Irish Family History Foundation (cost = 5 pounds) - parents Henry McCudden, Mary LUNDY - sponsors Elizabeth McCudden, Edward BURNS; Newry, County Down; R.Catholic.

Question: does this internet information count as "official" or is it recommended to get a copy of the record?

I am now seeking information about his father James McCUDDEN, such as birth and marriage data, and perhaps further siblings for Henry. I believe that Elizabeth is a sister to James.

I paid for access last night, and it was useful, but it will certainly become a costly venture. Your help and/or direction is most appreciated.

Thanks, Sheila

Sheila,
Welcome to Rootschat. Unfortunately Irish Catholic Civil records did not begin until 1864 so what you have managed to get is a transcription from church records. To get back further will require a great deal of luck as the further back one goes the fewer the records.
