Thomas Hayes or Hornby?

I'm trying to find the christening of Thomas Hornby Hayes or Thomas Hornby he was born 11/03/1915 in Whiston Prescot, his mother lived in St Helens but at that time was with her parents in Whiston due to the childs father being away at war and at that time Thomas's parents had not married due to the father being called up during the pregnancy, This is why he is Hornby on his birth certificate but Thomas H Hayes on the birth index, he may have been christened in either St Helens or in Prescot, and unfortunately we can't find his christening because the online records ending around 1900.
 Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many records for that period have not yet been transcribed and the problems here may be that they waited until his father was home on leave before having him christened.   He could have been christened in either Whiston or St Helens at any time after 1915 so it is an impossible task without a date, and a church

As you already have his birth cert and know his parents names- what additional information are you hoping to obtain from a possible christening record?

yes his father was Thomas Hornby 1887 Prescot.

I gathered that,  but in the vast majority of cases - tracing a christening record is mainly aimed at finding his parents names or his fathers occupation to help progress family history further back

In this case - you already have all that info including his actual date of birth.  The only additional info on any possible christening record would be their address at that time and the date of the christening.

If this is the only info you are expecting - then ok.
