Morgan Family from England to Franklin Ohio
« on: Saturday 02 January 10 01:38 GMT (UK) »
My ancester Rose Catherine Richardson b 1888 Llandudno Wales married David Morgan in Birmingham 1928.

Can anyone help as there seems to be a census record in 1930 Franklin Ohio also death and social security record.
Rose died in 1970 and I think she had at least 1 child though I do'nt know the details.
Any information gratefully received.
Regards
Alyson

Hi Alyson

As you thought  :) One daughter is showing for them in the 1930 census at Columbus, Franklin, Ohio - Rosemary (although indexed as Rosemay) aged 6 months.

David Morgan, 54, Sexton - emigrated in 1914
Rose C Morgan, 42 - emigrated in 1928
Rosema(r)y Morgan, 6 months born in Ohio

A first marriage for both of them, reflecting the 1928 marriage that you have details for in Birmingham.

Have you got details of their arrival in NY? Looks to have been pretty soon after their marriage:

Their arrival on the Franconia was on 16 Sep 1928. Rosa Catherine, 39, b. Llandudno arrived with husband David, 52, a Church Sexton, born in Llandiloes and already living in Columbus.

You can search the U.S. Social Security Death Index on www.familysearch.org - just click on the link on the l/h side.

One possibility for a death for Rose, if you are certain of the 1970 death year, in Ohio for example. If you know her exact birth date, it will help you to confirm it is the right entry.

You can search for Rose Morgan here:  http://www.columbuslibrary.org/cmlcnix/searchobitform.cfm  A result comes up for Rose Catherine Morgan from August 10, 1970.  Unfortunately, I think they only provide obits for people with their library card.  There are volunteers in Franklin Co. on www.raogk.org who do look-ups of obituaries.

That entry you have found fits well with the Rose Morgan showing on SSDI. The entry shows as an August 1970 death in Columbus, birth date 14 Sep 1888.

Alyson - David and Rose were my grandparents. Rosemary was my mother. She was their only child.  I have all legal docs, letters and photos from here and from Great Britain.  How can I help you with the questions you have regarding my grandmother?  And, whose child or grandchild are you?!
