Hello Barleymow,
Sorry for the delay in response. We have been dealing with a very sick dog (still are). Most of my direct Cocking ancestors came from the Isle of Axholme, Barrow on Humber being my great grandfather's home. He was a blacksmith. He moved to Grimsby after being injured by a horse (or so my father tells me), so there probably are not many of my Cocking ancestors in Grimsby itself. My grandfather Herbert Henry married Alice Ranyard, but I am not sure about where the marriage took place. My parents were married in Waltham, and one uncle was married in Grimsby to Mary Cammack, but that was post WW II.
If your records include Barrow on Humber and other towns in the Isle of Axholme, there would likely be more to find.
I do appreciate you taking the trouble to check all this out.
John.
