SIPTHORP(E) - Shenley, Bucks
« on: Tuesday 29 December 09 17:14 GMT (UK) »
I know it won't be until after new year but I've a rather exciting find on the IGI and hope someone may be able to check it out for me please :D

Isabella SIPTHORP or WIMBUSH
bp 30 Aug 1836 in Shenley.
Mother: Mary Wimbush
Father: Sipthorp

I'm crossing everything in the hope that the parish clerk may have been one who made notes and hoping against hope that "Sipthorp" may actually be James Sipthorpe.

I've already got a Sarah Jane Sibthorpe Wimbush (dau of Mary). I had hoped the Sibthorpe might be an indicator to her father's name.
Then found Mary on the 1841 with James Sipthorpe and Isabella Sipthorpe. On a whim I looked for Isabella on the IGI and found the above.
I have found Isabella on the 1851 census also as Sipthorpe, so I guess the Sibthorpe on Sarah Jane's birth reg is is either a mistranscription or else the person filling it in misheard.

Sarah Jane (Q1 1839) and James Henry (Q2 1840) were registered and baptised as Wimbush only, no father named. Both were raised by Mary's sister Sarah and her husband, Henry, who had no children of their own.
WIMBUSH - Everywhere :: MARLOW/JECOCK/JUSTICE - Northamptonshire/Warwickshire/Oxfordshire :: SCALES/BRIDGES/ENGLISH/SPINK/PETCH/GOOCH/COCKSEDGE - Suffolk :: GARRETT/GIBBS/FEARN - Warwickshire :: DEVOS - Scotland (Aberdeen)/France(Dunkerque) :: MURRAY - Ireland(Down)/Scotland(Lochs) :: TIGHE/TREACY - Cork

Hello! My name is Jack Sibthorpe! A 24 year old musician living in Australia, I study education and arts at university. I've found that the "Sibthorpe" name has often been miss spelt "sibthorp" or "sipthorbe" - see link http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/53437280

We recently had a Sibthorpe family reunion last year, where we were given Sibthorpe family books tracing back our family line till 1850. Not sure what your after from your post, but please let me know If you'd like anymore information about what we know of the Sibthorpe family (dublin 1850 - australia)
