Randwick Question. COMPLETED
« on: Tuesday 29 December 09 11:59 GMT (UK) »
Chatters,

I have a copy of the Banns record for Duncan GREGORY and Jane GABB both of Stonehouse, who were married there on April 12 1779.  Unfortunately the names of the witnesses give no help.

An undated submitted birth entry in the IGI gives Duncan's birthplace as "Randwick, Gloucester, England" and that his marriage to Jane Gabb took place in "<Randwick, Gloucester, England>" on 12 April 1779.

I suppose it is possible for Duncan's birthplace to have been Randwick (I have not searched Randwick church records) but I wonder how the LDS submitter managed to get his marriage date correct but not its location???   Perhaps the "<>" enclosing the location given indicates something special to LDS members!  I will ask when I next visit my local LDS FHC.

In the meantime, if anybody visiting the Gloster R.O. could please check for Duncan's birth in Randwick's PR's or BT's twenty or so years before his marriage perhaps, I would be very grateful even though I expect it's an LDS fairytale. -- See P.P.S.

Regards and a fruitful new search year to you all.

Chas

P.S. I've tried Gregory DUNCAN but no joy ;D

P.P.S.   Duncan's birthplace of Randwick IS an LDS fairytale according to the Randwick site's  baptism info. found via Google.

Chas

I never trust submitted entries on IGI, most of them seem to be fairy stories.

I presume the Randwick site you are talking about is

www.randwicksources.org.uk/

it's superb, I wish more villages would have sites like that with all that information.
