« on: Monday 14 March 05 06:42 GMT (UK) »
My grandfather Charles Edward Savage was born in Cork in 1895 and was raised in Kinsale. His parents, William and Catherine ( nee Niel ) Savage, l could not trace their families, names etc. l heard that my gandfather had 5 sisters and 2 brothers but one of his brothers Arthur Hugh & Charles came to Australia in the late 1920s . Charles married Maggie Dixon in England ( whereabouts ? ) in 1918. l'm doing my family tree research.

Hello there

I am looking for any info on Helena Savage, born to John Savage in Kinsale Union 1876, may have been my father Cornelious's mother in Cork Union 1920, died shortly after that 1921/22/23. John Savage lived in Fisher Street Kinsale in 1901 census. may have resided in Berrings Inniscarra in 1920s. Any relevany details regarding Savage in this area and this date much appreciated.

My father died 18 years ago, with only his birth certficate to help me find info. The rest is from what I got from the cert.

Many thanks

Hi,

Have you checked the birth indexes? As he was born post 1864, it should have been registered. These are available at the Dublin GRO or on film at your local family history centre. (Church of the latter day saints) http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp for our nearest.

And I would also suggest searching the 1901 census for Savage households. This is not indexed. 1911 census is also released. These are available at the National Archives in Dublin and on film at your local family history centre. (Church of the latter day saints)

The marriage in England you can get from the GRo there. You may find the reference at freebmd.

Do you have the family in the 1911 census?
Do you have your father's parents marriage?

Thank you Kated.
I found an old diary written by himself Charles Savage of his family and decendants in his old suitcase in the attic of his old unoccupied farm house since his death more than 50 years ago.

BINGO! I think Charles Edward Savage was my Grandfathers younger brother, my Dad Ivan Leo Savage only met his Uncle Charlie once as he had emigrated to Fish Creek Victoria after WW1. Here is a link to some info on My Grandfather Fred Savage and his children. http://royalmunsterfusiliers.net/b4savag.htm If you want to get in contact e-mail this James O'Sullivan who runs this great site and ask to be put in contact with me.
