Hi Bearkat,

Correction, it was my GGGgrandfather, JOHN CARPENTER, who was presented with the family bible. Sorry for any confusion. Hope the previous info. is of help.

I'm very jealous of your family bible.  ;)

Comyn was the vicar of Boldre.  He kept notebooks containing details of all his parishioners.  These were published in a book but it is now out of print.   :(

The entry for John Carpenter shows that he paid a rent of £3 to Mr Toomer.  Jane had moved to Beaulieu, George was working for Toomer and Hannah was living next door although she does not appear to be living there  :-\

The next vicar had written John Wilson over the entry so I presume the Carpenters had moved away.

Hi Jess, Edward Pearce and wife Sarah were living in 1851 in Lymington (Vienna Place) his occupation was then, as in 1841 a Chimney sweep. A son Edward was married to Sarah Anne Hendey at Boldre church on April 13th 1846, on the wedding cert his (fathers) profession is a sweep. There then followed two more Edward Pearce's, a Walter, a Kenneth Edward, then me, all Lymington Residents. I even have a nephew Edward.I think old Edward's age on the cencus reports are suspect , I have found this problem with other people, however Sarah's age is consistent. Greetings from Lymington.Mick Pearce

Me again, I believe that that Edward Pearce b.1782 was married to a Sarah Thomas or Thorne I have tried to read the parish records but the writing is poor, so this is my guess....

Interesting to note that Pete states that his GGG Grandfather John Carpender was married to a Jenny Pearce, on my GGG Grandfather Edward Pearce's marriage to Sarah  Thorne or Thomas....Boldre 1818, a John Carpender is recorded as a witness (along with Ann Lowe).I suspect that Jenny and Edward were siblings.
