PEARCE family from Boldre

Hi everyone, I am trying to find out about our Pearce's in Boldre. I canot get back past Sarah Falis1783c and Edward Pearce1785c. They seem to hae come a copmplete halt I have tried all sorts of places, sites and meddage boards, but as yet no luck. Can anyone shed any light on our Pearces? Hope you can!!! Hi Jess, and welcome to Rootschat. 

There was an Edward PEARCE baptised in Boldre 1st April 1782.  His father was Thomas.

There was also one baptised in neighbouring Beaulieu 23rd July 1780, parents Edward and Sarah.

FALIS is an unusual name.  I wonder if it is a variant of FALLICK which is name found on the Isle of Wight.  Or perhaps it could be french.

Hi thanks for the info! I have been trying to make a connection from Edward and Sarah for a while but there always seems to be a gap. Fallus also appears in a child called Elizabeth Fallus Pearce, so as it was the habit of using a mothers maiden name as a middle or first name somewhere along the line. Can you with your font of knowledge(?) see any connections so I can continue from them? Thanks again!  Kinest regards Jess

What information have you found already?

Have you found them on the census?  Have you found their marriage which would give the parish they were living at the time?

Hi thanks for your time!! I do have some information but it is a bit sketchy. I do have Edward and an Sarah on the 1841 censu both born in Boldre,his occupation is a chimney sweep. as the date I have been given for his birthis about 1783but the dates given via the census would make him a bit older as it shows him being 55 in 1841, and Sarah as 50. There seems to have been a fashion of Edward Pearce for a few generations which does'nt help with the confusion either. They were recorded as living at Quay Hill, which is in Lymington, from whence we do know that's where most of the decending Pearce's are from. I dont have any parish records from Boldre, I have tried to access them, but without any luck. There does appear a Pheobe Pearce on an 1851 census, as a widow, aged 64, but as I dont really know the geography of the area it may be a red herring too. As she also had a son, Edward Pearce who was 30 in 1851, but cannot make any definate connections with the ones from Boldre. To make matters more complicated, there were several Edward's married to Sarah's too. Hope this can make some sense to you! Again thanks for your time and efforts!! Regards Jess

My GGGgrandmother was JENNY PEARCE, she was born in Boldre in 1769 to THOMAS and ELISABETH (maiden name not known). In 1792 she married JOHN CARPENDER (CARPENTER) who was also born in Boldre in 1769. His parents were GEORGE and SARAH (maiden name not known). JOHN worked all his life as an Ag.lab and died in 1849. In the 1841 census he was living at Sandy Down nearby.

This marriage looks promising  (and ties in with Jess'   family Thomas PEARCE to Elizabeth FALLIS 1st August 1768 at neighbouring Beaulieu.

Do you have the entry for John & Jane CARPENTER from Comyn's New Forest?  Lists their children as Jane 1796,  George 1799, Hannah 1802, Anne 1805, John1808, Elizabeth 1812,  Mary 1814  They were living at Sandy Down

I wasn't even aware of Comyn's New Forest. What I do have is a 205 year old family bible which lists the following dates of birth:
John Carpenter 20.3.1769  Jean (Jenny/Jane) 13.3.1769 (parents)
                       George 28.10.1793 (buried 24.4.1797)
                       Jane 22.4.1796
                       George 10.10.1799
                       Hannah 5.4.1802
                       Ann 11.7.1805
                       JOHN 26.8.1808 (died 10.11.1868 at Eling) - my GGgrandfather
                       Elizabeth 9.2.1812
                       Mary 20.10.1814
My GGgrandfather JOHN was presented with the bible on 20th July 1807. He was a bearer at the funeral of Margaret Gilpin (wife of the vicar William Gilpin). It was the custom to select the 12 bearers from amongst the poorest parishioners.
