Pre-1800 records for Roscrea Parish?
« on: Monday 21 December 09 18:48 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I am trying to locate records for a James Brown, b. 1780-1784, and John Jackson, b. abt. 1766, both Church of Ireland from Roscrea Parish.  I've gone to the North Tipperary website for records, but the records don't begin until the mid 1780's for these families.  Can anyone tell me if the records prior to 1780 have been lost or not?  Or are just the later records listed on the website.  Are there any other records available that could help me?

      Thanks,

      Joe Leahy

according to the book 'Ryan's Irish Records' records survive for Roscrea CofI parish from 1784 for baptisms, 1791 for marriages & 1892 for deaths/burials (sections of this book are available on Google books)

Shane,

Many thanks for that important information.  It means that I "just missed" on all the critical records I needed, unfortunately.  But it's good to know!

    Thanks,

    Joe
