Bocking Parish Records
« on: Thursday 17 December 09 20:05 GMT (UK) »
Hi all, again!

This time not so much of a mystery but a query. Does anyone have access to the parish records of Bocking, particularly the years 1750-1800? I have tried IGI and the only one that covers that era is the Independant Church records, which record four children of the person whom I'm interested in. His name was Thomas Branwhite and according to a file on FamilySearch.org, he was born in the village in 1753. It seems rather an odd place to find a Branwhite, since we were mostly clumped around Lavenham at the time. He married a Mary/Polly Garrett in the 1780s.

If anyone does have access to the records, I'd like to know who his parents were (if it says) so I can try and place him and his family on my tree somewhere.

Thank you  :)
I am interested in finding out more about these families:

Branthwayt(e): Thrapston, Northamptonshire
Branwhite: Suffolk and Essex
Flude: London
Godfrey: Hertfordshire and Romford, Essex
Gregory: Derbyshire and Shoreditch, London
Lowen: Epping in Essex
Matty: Tewkesbury  in Glucestershire and Essex
Mills; Hackney, London
Monro: Berwickshire, Hertfordshire, London
Oliver: from Essex
Sadler: Shoreditch and Hackney
Shorten: Belchamp Walter, Essex
Tickell: recorded in Shoreditch

Cheers cep  ;D Much obliged.

Strangely, I did find a record (albeit I'm not sure of its accuracy) on FamilySearch recording a marriage between a Mary Ann Branwhite and a William Shave on 26th August 1813. Presumably this one is incorrect?

Hello,

The 1851 census shows my ancestor, Thomas King, who lived in Sussex, to have been born in Bocking, Essex:

White Lion St., New Shoreham, Sussex
Thomas King, Head, Mar, 63, Shoemaker (Master), Essex Bocking

Does his baptism appear in the Bocking parish register?  I do not know his parents' names.  I should be very grateful for any help in identifying his origins.

Hi, I'm also looking for someone from Essex, but it's a bit complicated as I don't know her maiden name for certain. Jane the wife of Samuel Rowley, born in Bocking Essex in approximately 1791. Their oldest daughter was christened as Elizabeth Green Rowley, so her maiden name may have been Green. Samuel Rowley was a sergeant in the 73rd regiment of foot, and Elizabeth was born in Ceylon, so Samuel and Jane may not have married in Britain.

Are there any Jane Green's who disappear from the records?!
