The Steam Packet Inn, Stockton Street, Middlesbrough
« on: Wednesday 16 December 09 14:13 GMT (UK) »
Hi Rootschatters,
After a lot of hard work and help by rootschatters, I am close to finishing the Martin family tree.
There is only one thing missing - a photograph of the above pub. I know that it no longer exists. I have recent photographs of the area showing The Ship (Middlehaven) and a hole where the Steam Packet was.
I have tried to find archive photos and have failed.
Does anyone out there have a photo that they could share with me please? (be careful of copyrights).
Thanks, Chris

Hi Posteria,
At the risk of appearing completely stupid (which is entirely possible!), I am unable to open the image.
I have tried with disabled firewall, enabled firewall, opening the file,  saving the file and with a number of different packages, but each download is showing 0 bytes.
Could I ask you to resend it please to Email address deletedI am sure that your efforts will be appreciated!
Thanks for all your efforts and sorry for my stupidity.

Hello Chris

I have sent a copy by email, as requested.

One relatively easy method of getting the image from the RootsChat screen is to right click on the image and then left click on “Copy Image”. You can then paste it into a picture manipulation program such as “Paint” from “Windows” “Accessories” and then save it in a variety of available formats. This method should be available to most people.

ps You should remove your email address from above.

The above only works if you can see the actual picture on screen. I might have misunderstood what you meant if your browser is not displaying the actual picture.

If the image itself has not displayed, on the RootsChat screen, in your browser and all that you can see is Steampacket.jpg (31.79 KB, 640x509 ) then you should be able to left click on the link and bring up the “Opening Steampacket...” box. From there, you can either open the file in the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer” and save it from there or select the “Save File” option and choose the format before saving.

This method should also work when the image is displayed on screen, as an alternative to the one I suggested first.
