There is one Edward D Dunbar aged 52, born Hill Elgin, Moray, Scotland. At the time he's a visitor at what seems to be a barding/lodging house in St Thomas, Hampshire. With his are Pheobe D Dunbar, aged 53, born Limehouse, London and John A D Dunbar, aged 21, born Forres, North Britain.

This doesn't look particularly close, given the Liverpool connection and the son's name, but is the only one who matches in age. There are no Edward Dunbars with any connection to Liverpool.

It's possible his name has been mistranscribed in the index, but this will take a little longer to track down (if at all).
