Hello Eva,

The 2 closest cemeteries would be either The Necropolis, right beside Drygate or possibly Janefield (The Eastern Necropolis, on the Gallowgate.

If you have a look on Multimap, choose the aerial view, and key in NS604652, that'll show you how close Drygate & the Necropolis is.

NS619642 is the reference for Janefield, no more than five minutes along the road on the Gallowgate.

Anne

hi eva, i was in mitchell again yesterday had bit of time checked the necropolis also southern necropolis for july no trace of her in any of those two for the month of july i asked the chap if he had records for janefield cemetery they did not have them just wondering if perhaps her parents stayed in different part of glasgow and she was burried near them looks like you will have to get councill to check janefield and the others. i managed to get copy of the photo from the film in the mitchell its beter when you view it on there screen as mark at side of it, if you send me a P.M. with your e.mail i will send copy to you of the photo hope this is of some help perhaps someone may have list for janefield that could help you

Hiya  -  sorry - been otherwise engaged i.e. working all hours - her parents at the time of her death stayed in Bell Street?  Just to let you all know I got the picture - she looks so lovely, fresh faced and a nice genuine person.  Have been speaking with one of the Petfield relations and discovered Douglas (in the nicest possible way - her murderer) and he died in 1979 in Morningside.  have found out quite a bit more about him and he seems to have had a terribly sad life before my g-a-agnes and spent the remaining 50 years in an asylum institution.  Eva

Egar,  how about trying Riddrie or Sandymount cemeteries, both are in the east end of the city...Skoosh.
