Norwich Coroner Reports
« on: Sunday 13 March 05 10:53 GMT (UK) »
I have an ancestor who died in September 1888 of a coma following concussion of the brain caused by falling downstairs.  As her death was notified by the coroner at the time I wonderered if anyone knew whether there would be coroner reports available for that time, or whether I will only have local newspapers as sources for finding more information on her death.  I'm not sure the death would even be newsworthy because she was an old lady when she died.  Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Sharon

Hi Sharon

It should say on the death certificate whether there was an inquest or not hence whether further information would be available.  If there was an inquest then the Norfolk Records Office might be a good place to enquire about any surviving coroner's inquest reports:

Hi Casalguidi,

Thanks for the link; it looks useful. Unfortunately on this occasion I've not been lucky...but you never know.  I've come to the conclusion that there was no inquest for this death.

Regards,
Sharon
