Macleod - Skye
« on: Thursday 10 December 09 14:33 GMT (UK) »
I am searching for information on the following family and I hope someone maybe linked.

Neil Macleod ( Son of I believe William Macleod and Mary Morrison) Born c 1796 Portree Isles of Skye married Isabella McRae Born c 1800 Had 8 Children
John c1821, Alexander c 1823, Frances c1826, Malcolm c 1829, Janet C 1830, Malcolm c 1832, Mary c1835 and John c 1837 all born on Skye I believe. Alexander Married Ann Ross c 1853 and would have been I think my GG Grandfather. Any connections to the family or any one who knows any more would be met with great thanks. I know very little about this side of my family as I was very young when my only connections died.

Hi Calum

There are some submitted entries for marriages for children of Neil and Isabella on IGI www.familysearch.org

Christina - married MURDOCH MAC LEOD on 10 JAN 1856 in Strath, Inverness
Husband Age at Marriage: 31

Mary - married NORMAND MAC LEOD on 21 NOV 1861 in Strath, Inverness
Husband Age at Marriage: 31/ Wife Age at Marriage: 25

John - married ELIZA MC DONALD on 21 MAR 1865 in Strath, Inverness
Husband Age at Marriage: 28/ Wife Age at Marriage: 25

Likely this information came from the statutory marriage registers which you should be able to verify on Scotlands People.

Monica  :)

Hello,

Norma MacLeod of skye-roots (www.skye-roots.co.uk) has researched and is continuing to research this family.

Our family has descended from Neil and Isabella's daughter Mary who married Norman MacLeod.

I encourage you to contact Norma to enlist her help.  She is an excellent and meticulous researcher:
(*)

Norma is now in the process of researching the female MacLeod lines in our family, which would include Mary, daughter of Isabella MacRae and Norman MacLeod.

Whoops!  I mean to say at the end, Mary, the daughter of Isabella and NEIL MacLeod!  Sorry!

Hello Calum,

By any chance did the marriage of William McLeod and Mary Morrison produce a son Norman ?

Regards

Gordon

Hello,

I have just found this family in my researching of the Moffats. Janet McLeod (b 1828), daughter of Niel McLeod and Isabella McRae married James Moffat who was a brother to my gt,gt,gt grandmother.

Would love to compare info.

Cheers,

Ann
