My great-great-grandmother, Ellen Gray was born in Sleaford in , one of the many children of Thomas Gray and Mary (Marfleet). Thomas was a tailor, with premises in East Street, next to the Wagon and Horses public house.
Ellen married Marmaduke Stephenson Hebb of North Frodingham, and they moved south to London.
Ellen's sister Amy married a coal porter from Ewerby: Luke Holderness (b.1845). They lived in Sleaford.
Does anyone have any information about the Holderness family ? I know that one of Luke and Amy's children, Luke Edmund, died in the Great War, in 1916. His name is on the town's war memorial. I'd like to follow the Holdernesses back as far as possible.
Many thanks!
