Hello Rocky1
Did you find your Docherty family in 1906?

The 1905-06 Post Office directory for Glasgow, at

http://www.archive.org/details/postofficeannual190506gla

says that Hallside Street goes from Naburn Street to Upper Camden Street, but could not find it in the street section.   A search for John Docherty gives the following:
John Docherty, 198 Berkeley Street
J. Docherty, broker, 49 Clyde Street, Anderton
John Docherty, 146 Onslow Drive
John Docherty, Cab & Carriage Hirer, 74 Tobago Street
J.R.Docherty, Tea Dealer, Wholesale & Exclusive, 259 Rutherglen Road

The 1906-07 Post Office directory for Glasgow, at

http://www.archive.org/details/postofficeannual190607gla

Lists the following people in Hallside Street:
29  Garrity, J.
35  Kelly, P
42  Fyfe, W
6, 2  Turner, A, spirit Merchant

Maybe they only listed owners?  Surely all the intervening numbered houses wouldn't be vacant?

Forgot to say - you can look at these online, or download as a .pdf document for free but they are large files so take a while to download

Billyblue, thanks for your help.

I have since been informed that the Docherty and Donnelly families were related, so it's possible that John Docherty and wife in 1906 lived with the Donnelys temporarily.
I have a later address of 147 Lawmoor Street for Docherty.  I'm told that at one time Lawmoor Street was called 'South Wellington Street'.   A search of the Evaluation Rolls for 1913-14 shows a John Docherty listed as a tenant.   No occupation given.   My John Docherty was an 'Iron Turner' who may have been employed at 'Dixon's blazes' nearby.
There doesn't appear to be a search in the 1911 census for occupants at a specific address.   Unfortunately I don't have a birthdate.
